QUEZAIRE NAMED OUTSTANDING LEGISLATOR BY LA. ASSOCIATION OF EDUCATORS

State Rep. Roy Quezaire, D-Donaldsonville, was named an Outstanding Legislator by the Louisiana Association of Educators (LAE) at its annual Legislative Conference and Awards Banquet on February 26 and 27. Quezaire won the award based upon his voting record on educational issues. To be recognized by the Association as an outstanding legislator, they must have a voting record supportive of the LAE.

"I am honored to have been recognized as a friend of education," said Quezaire. "Education is extremely important to the future of Louisiana. We as House members and legislators must do everything in our power to make sure every child in the state receives a quality education."

Legislators must vote for at least 80 percent of the issues championed by LAE in order to receive this honor. Key issues in the upcoming session will be a salary increase for public school teachers, a re-examination of sabbatical and sick leave policies, and public school funding.
