From I-10 West or East bound take I-10 North (which turns into MLK Expressway) to downtown Baton Rouge. At the curve, exit right on Capitol Access Rd./Dept. of Transportation & Development (Exit 1-E) and as you continue on this exit ramp you will loop back over I-110. If you are approaching from I-110 South, exit right on Capitol Access Rd. (Exit 1-E).

Whether you approach from the north or south, both exit ramps will direct you onto the Capitol Access Road heading in the direction of the State Capitol. You will see the Department of Transportation and Development on your right, pass through a traffic light, see the Governor's Mansion on your right, and see the tower of the State Capitol building above the tree tops of the Arsenal Museum.

Immediately after you pass the Governor's Mansion, you will cross a small bridge over the Capitol Lake. Continue on that two way road until you reach N. 3rd St. Bear left on N. 3rd St until the road reaches Spanish Town Rd. Bear left again to find parking, which can be found along Spanish Town Rd and N. 5th St (Capitol Gardens).

To detour from I-10 west I-110 North: take the North St. exit (on the left side of I-110N) ramp and continue down North St. to Third St., take a right and continue down to the State Capitol, on the right.

Also, If choosing to go to the exit ramp(Exit 1 -E) towards the DOTD, come to the DOTD light and take a left, staying on the ramp until North St. Then turn right and travel towards downtown until you reach Third street. Next, take a right and continue down to the State Capitol, on the right..

River Road levee parking lot
Located in front of The Capitol Park Welcome Center, directly across River Road, is a paved, open-air lot on the levee.
Please exercise extreme care when crossing River Road on your way to The State Capitol.
